The project name is an acronym for "European Launcher Development Organization" and is situated in Woomera, 400km north of Adelaide, South Australia. Woomera was a military township and the home of Australia’s major rocket launching programme of the 1950’s and 60’s.

The building had not been renovated since its' construction in 1964. The client brief was to rationalize the numerous bar areas and to condense the hotel operation into a single space that provides both dining and bar facilities. The retro décor draws on the history of the town and is a unique departure from the country style hotels that are typical in the outback. The hotel caters for tourists and scientific visitors to the frequently used rocket range.
